MySpace & Social Network Marketing

Myspace is without a doubt the most popular online social networking site in the world. With over 230 Million members it is the perfect place to advertise your business, services or products.

As with all social networks you can not and should not market your business directly, why? Because people come to Myspace and any other social network to meet their friends, find new friends and to socialize online with like minded people.

This means that if your on Myspace or any other social network you can not market your offers directly to others, you need to become part of that community.

Visitors to your profile need to be engaged so that they come back often and see what you have to say and you need to visit the profiles of the people that become your social networking friends.

In order to begin to establish your business on MySpace and the many other Social Networking sites you need to customize the about me section of your profile page with information about yourself and your business and what your business is all about.

The information you place in the about me section of your profile page should be short, but it should informative and engage your readers to want to learn more about you & your business.

You should use the group search functions that many social networking sites offer to find people that are interested in many of the things you are, and that are interested in the type of business that you have.

So for example if you have a car customization shop that specialize in customization and restoration of Vintage Maseratis, then your going to first want to find people that have interest in Maserati, car restorations and car customization.Join these groups and start interacting with the group members and becoming their online friends. When choosing your friends from these groups first select those members that are very active, have lots of friends and profile views.

The more profile views they have translate in to more people seeing your postings on these very busy profiles.Do your best not to post any advertisements in your comment posting to friends profiles, it is considered by many members of social networking sites as nothing more than the spamming of their profiles and your comments will be removed and you can sometime find yourself from being blocked.

I speak from personal experience when I say don’t directly advertise on another members profile. When other members place blatant ads on my profiles comment section I remove it and advise them not advertise on my profile, if they don’t listen I remove them from my friends list.

You might be wondering then how do you get the word out about you and your business. Simple be creative in your comment postings say something that ads value to the members profile and squeeze in that comment of something new you’ve added to your profile.

As in the example above when post a nice comment or question on another members profile also state that you have some new photos of a customization job your working on or just finished and you like to get some feedback about what other members think about.

This then opens a discussion that you can then create a blog about (all social networking sites have blogs for their members to post comments to) and if people are interested creates a point of interest that then brings in others that want to add you to their friends list. You can also make good use of the bulletin board system, club systems to further enhance your standing in the social networking community, by posting engaging relevant information that is part of your business but also is fun to look at and comment about.

These activities build your credibility in the community; this does not happen over night and takes time, but with a dedicated effort can yield some very surprising results and traffic to your business website.Remember your goal here is to get as many people as possible to visit your primary business page and your MySpace Profile, Blogs, Groups or Clubs must be geared to indirectly point people to your site.

To help yourself in this endeavor create banner links on your profile that visitors can place on their profiles if they chose or in-exchange for their banners being placed on your profile.

Make use of video - place a video of what your business is about, in the example above you can show out takes of a customization in progress.

Use audio to give some history about your business…, keep your images fresh so that visitors see new content on a regular basis.

I hope you found this information helpful, good luck and much success on your MySpace & Social Networking Marketing efforts.
